What did we develop?

MEMSWear smart shirt capable of performing online processing for detecting falls and daily activities

System consist of 3-Axis accelerometer, Bluetooth transceiver and a microcontroller unit (MCU)

Onboard algorithms are capable of differentiating falls from other activities

Information is transmitted wirelessly to a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone when a fall occurs.

SMS can be sent world wide via the GSM network to a relative or caregiver.

What did we achieve?

Fall Detection 100% accuracy

Other Detectable activities: Level walking, Ascending stairs, Descending stairs, Standing up, Sitting down, Sitting to lying, Lying to sitting

Accuracy: overall sensitivity 94.85% for 1495 activities

Conclusion: Extensively tested (almost 1500 activities) to detect eight different kinds of daily activities with high accuracy.
